To his excellency Newton Cannon Foreman H I Merlin Young Sheriff of Jackson County do hereby certify that I opened and held an election in district no. 7 for the purpose of electing a justice of the peace and said district to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Denton Mar after company the votes it appears that Bailey Butler Jr was duly and constitutionally elected Justice of the Peace and said district in testimony whereof Merlin Young Sheriff of Jackson County hath here to sit my hand and seal 22nd December 1837.
